Dr. Parish Sedghizadeh is an Assistant Clinical Professor at the University of Southern California, School of Dentistry (USC-SD) and Center for Craniofacial Molecular Biology (CCMB). He received his bachelor degree in biology from the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), and went on to receive his D.D.S. degree from USC-SD. After his doctorate, he pursued specialty training in Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology at Ohio State University, where he attained an M.S. degree in oral biology and fellowship status in the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology. In Ohio, Dr. Sedghizadeh was

awarded fellowship in the American Cancer Society for conducting research at the Arthur G. James Cancer Hospital and Richard J. Solove Research Institute, investigating the early molecular events involved in the progression of head and neck cancer. As a Health Disparities Scholar for the National Institutes of Health – National Center on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIH-NCMHD), Dr. Sedghizadeh is engaged in their mission to promote minority health and to lead, coordinate and support the NIH effort to reduce health disparities.

Dr. Sedghizadeh is a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, and he conducts research, publishes, consults and teaches in this capacity. He also conducts continuing education courses in pathology, presents at national meetings, and is a member of several professional and research organizations. Dr. Sedghizadeh serves as an ad hoc reviewer for several revered journals, and consults for companies like the Washington Post (Kaplan Test Prep®), and the Gerson Lehrman Group as a member of their Council of Healthcare Advisors. Dr. Sedghizadeh currently provides clinical pathology services (diagnostic and therapeutic) to patients at USC-SD in the Oral Medicine Center and the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic, in addition to providing histopathologic (microscopic) evaluation, diagnosis and interpretation of maxillofacial biopsy specimens. His current research interests focus on craniofacial (jaw) osteonecrosis, characterization of biofilms with respect to the pathogenesis of craniofacial osteomyelitis, and collaborative epidemiologic studies into head and neck cancer with the Los Angeles Cancer Registry.
